Statement of Significance

Description of Historic Place

Woodlands is a two-storey Tudor Revival style house located beside Bowker Creek on a cul-de-sac in Oak Bay.

Heritage Value

Woodlands is valued as a good example of Tudor Revival residential architecture of the 1930s and as a landmark along Bowker Creek.

Although the original three acre estate has been subdivided, its remaining grounds and close proximity to Bowker Creek contribute to the historic landscape of the Bowker Creek Walkway. Its orientation towards the Creek retains much of the original atmosphere for this 1931 home built for the Nairn family.

The half-timbering and front gable adds interest to the side of the lot closest to the Walkway. The original driveway and gates are now the entrance to the strata development off Hampshire Road.
