Description du lieu patrimonial
2330 15th Avenue is a Municipal Heritage Property located in the City of Regina. Constructed in 1923, the property features a three-storey office building in Regina’s Transition Area, prominently located at the corner of 15th Avenue and Smith Street.
Valeur patrimoniale
The heritage value of 2330 15th Avenue lies in its contribution to the streetscape of 15th Avenue. Constructed in a simple rectangular form, with some Tudor-influenced detailing on the third floor and roofline, the three-storey apartment fit well into the residential character of the neighbourhood at the time of its construction in 1923. Today, the property is one of several heritage properties located along 15th Avenue and helps comprise the partially intact pre-World War II residential streetcape of Regina's Transition area.
Another heritage value of the property is its association with Fred Barber. Barber was a clothing manufacturer who developed a number of residential properties in Regina during the building boom of the early 1920's. He also owned and operated Barber's Men's Shop, which was a well-known business in the community for several years.
