Description du lieu patrimonial
The Ellisboro United Church is a Municipal Heritage Property within the Rural Municipality of Wolseley No. 155 approximately 10 km north of the Town of Wolseley. The property features a one-storey brick church built in 1894.
Valeur patrimoniale
The heritage value of the Ellisboro United Church lies in its association with the early pioneers who built the church. Built by Ellisboro Presbyterian congregation in 1894, the church is the oldest church in the area. The church was built on land donated by the community’s name sake J.H. Ellis and was constructed by many of the community founders. As one of the few surviving buildings in the community, the church stands as a landmark.
The heritage value also resides in its vernacular construction which features a steep gabled roof and three small stained glass windows. The small church boasts most of its original furnishings including pews, and pulpit.
